Attention all volunteers! Cantina will be working with Simon on the Streets again for second Feed the Streets Charity Cook-Up event. Again, this will be an opportunity for volunteers to get involved in a project that aims to give back to the wider community of Leeds.

Attention all volunteers! Cantina will be working with Simon on the Streets again for second Feed the Streets Charity Cook-Up event. Again, this will be an opportunity for volunteers to get involved in a project that aims to give back to the wider community of Leeds.

Throughout the afternoon we’ll be preparing calorie and nutrient dense vegan food for the city’s homeless, and those who need it the most. This time around we’re also planning on including hand-drawn notes to accompany the food, helping spreading positivity and add a thoughtful message to the tasty grub. However, it doesn’t matter if you can’t draw, or you’re no dab-hand in the kitchen. If you’re enthusiastic about helping others and willing to get stuck in, that’s all that matters to us.

Cantina isn’t a huge space, so we’ll be capping the number of volunteers at 25, which will mean spaces are going to fill up fast. We’ll be releasing volunteer tickets (free of course) and finalising event times soon, so keep an eye on this space!

Now, time for a little background on the real super-heroes of the story, Simon on the Streets;

Simon on the Streets are an independent charity that supports people to find aspirations and gives unlimited opportunities to achieve sustainable positive change. They are a small group of individuals who do not seek funding from the government or local authorities. They work tirelessly day-in and day-out to help the homeless community of Leeds and those at risk of having to sleep rough.

Their aim is to, “bring people leading solitary, harmful lives, with little or no vision for a better future, in from the margins of society.” They achieve this by, “offering support on an entirely outreach basis with no time limits thus removing many of the key barriers to engagement experienced in this field.”  - Simon on the Streets; taken from: http://simononthestreets.co.uk/about-us/

So, if you’d like to be involved, pencil the date into your diary and keep an eye on our website/social channels for more information.
